In Memory of Juanita Lolesio

Juanita was a vibrant young woman with dreams of becoming a make-up artist, known for her creativity and eye for beauty. A dedicated cheerleader and loving sister, she brought joy and laughter to everyone around her. Her infectious spirit and positivity lit up any room, making her a cherished friend to many. On the night of her untimely death, she was celebrating a friend’s birthday with her loved ones, embodying the spirit of youth and togetherness. Unfortunately, her life was cut short due to a senseless act of violence, which serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the urgent need to address the issues affecting our communities. Juanita will forever be 19.

Juanita’s family describes her as energetic, independent, and someone who always spoke her mind. She was the eldest of eight siblings, serving as a rock for her family through both challenges and celebrations. Her caring nature extended beyond her family; she was always there for her friends, offering support and encouragement whenever they needed it. Juanita's passion for life, her commitment to her dreams, and her dedication to those she loved continue to inspire our work.

In honoring Juanita's legacy, we strive to create a world where every young person can feel safe, valued, and empowered. We recognize the importance of fostering resilience and confidence in youth, especially those who face significant challenges. Our programs are designed not just to prevent violence, but to cultivate a sense of belonging and purpose among young people, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to thrive.

Through education, mentorship, and community engagement, we aim to transform the narrative for at-risk youth. Together, we can honor Juanita’s memory by building a brighter future, one where every child has the opportunity to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact in their community.
