Navigating Healthy Living Programs

Our programs emphasize nutrition, physical fitness, and mental wellness, creating a holistic approach to well-being. With the support of peers and dedicated mentors, participants learn to overcome challenges and make positive choices.

Drugs/Alcohol and Suicide Prevention

This is a comprehensive program aimed at preventing drug and alcohol abuse and suicide among youths, designed to address the multifaceted challenges faced by today’s young people. Our approach includes the following key components:

  • Education: We provide informative sessions that equip youth with the knowledge and skills to make healthy choices, understand the risks of substance abuse, and recognize the signs of mental health issues.

  • Screening: Regular assessments help identify at-risk individuals early, allowing us to tailor interventions that meet their specific needs.

  • Counseling: Our trained professionals offer individual and group counseling sessions, providing a safe space for youths to discuss their feelings, experiences, and challenges.

  • Peer Support: We facilitate peer-led support groups where participants can connect with others who share similar experiences, fostering a sense of belonging and reducing feelings of isolation.

  • Family Involvement: Engaging families in the process is crucial; we offer resources and workshops to help parents and guardians support their children’s mental health and well-being.

Monthly Wellness Gatherings

Mentees participate in monthly wellness activities designed to promote physical health while building camaraderie among participants. These engaging outings include bowling, hiking, sledding, and visits to recreation centers, offering fun opportunities for young people to connect and bond. Each activity is carefully chosen to encourage active lifestyles and promote overall well-being.

These outings not only help participants stay physically active but also foster teamwork and friendships, reinforcing the sense of community we strive to create. As mentees collaborate on activities, they learn valuable skills such as communication, cooperation, and problem-solving. The shared experiences during these events cultivate lasting memories and strengthen relationships, making it easier for participants to support one another in their individual journeys.

Peer to Peer Therapy

Aimed at creating a safe and supportive environment, our program encourages participants to openly discuss their struggles and develop essential coping skills. It begins by recruiting and training peer mentors—typically young adults who have personally navigated and overcome mental health challenges. This shared experience fosters empathy and understanding, making mentors relatable figures for the youths they support.

At-risk youths are identified through partnerships with schools, community organizations, and mental health clinics, ensuring a broad reach and comprehensive support network. Each participant is paired with a peer mentor who shares similar backgrounds and experiences, helping to create a strong bond built on trust and mutual understanding.

Our mission is to empower at-risk youths to take control of their mental health and build resilience. By providing support and guidance from trained peer mentors, participants learn to develop skills and strategies needed to face life's challenges effectively. This mentorship not only helps them navigate their current struggles but also equips them with tools for long-term success.

In addition to one-on-one mentoring, we facilitate group sessions where participants can share experiences, learn from one another, and cultivate a sense of community. Workshops on topics like stress management, emotional regulation, and goal-setting further enhance their coping strategies. By fostering an environment of connection, understanding, and growth, we aim to help each young person not only survive but truly thrive in their journey toward mental wellness.

Community Service Initiatives

We encourage our mentees to participate in community service projects on a monthly basis, committing just two hours to volunteering. This involvement not only fosters a sense of belonging and responsibility but also empowers mentees to become active, positive contributors to their communities. Through these service opportunities, participants gain valuable experiences that enrich their lives and the lives of those around them.
